drinking-urine- Gomutra Ark

What lengths would you go to stay in good health? Many of us heard already about people claiming that drinking your own urine will help you achieve the state of perfect health and well being.
Apparently now it’s all about cow urine (gau ark), and though it will probably never move into the mainstream, a growing cult of Hindu worshippers in India, claims that this alternative medicine is a treatment for diseases like diabetes, tuberculosis and even cancer. Though most of us, westerners find this practice probably disgusting, the use of cow urine in Indian alternative medicine, has a long history, particularly in ancient, Ayurvedic medicine, that has been practiced in India for at least 5,000 years. According to followers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) sect , only the urine collected from a female virgin cow will do the trick, with the best results to be expected when collected before dawn, any old cow will not suffice. For those individuals who’d rather not drink their urine straight from cow, the RSS has launched a cow-urine-based soft drink called – Gomutra Ark, which is promoted as a “healthy” alternative to Pepsi and other soft drinks.

Jairam Singhal, 42, has been enjoying cow tinkle for more than a decade. ‘Someone told me drinking cow urine is good for health. Ever since I have started drinking cow pee, my diabetes levels have been under control,’ Jairam said.

Although health experts are less enthusiastic about the health benefits of drinking cow urine, the product has been studied by a few of researchers. 2013 study in the International Brazilian Journal of Urology suggested distilled cow urine may aid in prevention of the development of kidney stones in rats. One year earlier in 2012, study published in the journal Ancient Science of Life claimed that rats with diabetes that were fed Gomutra Ark, showed significantly lower levels of blood glucose to rats in a control group. These researches strongly supports the traditional use of Gomutra Ark in diabetes, claiming its “high therapeutic index and safe use for chronic codition.”

These and many other studies probably will not convince sceptics to begin drinking any kind of urine anytime soon, even if it is part of a tasty soft drink, although Gomutra Ark might have its 15 minutes because of its novelty.”
