HB – Man

The high bar, also known as the horizontal bar which is 2.4 metres high, 2.8 cm thick steel or fibreglass and is men only event in Artistic Gymnastics. Gymnasts typically wear leather grips while performing on the bar to protect the skin on their hands when performing. The horizontal bar is very exciting gymnastic event due to the power exhibited by gymnasts during giant swings, spectacular aerial releases and dismounts which often include multiple flips and twists. The key here is to maintain a tight body and good timing.

Ruls & Scoring

Judges score gymnasts for their execution and degree of difficulty of giants (revolutions around the bar in the handstand position) with various grips ( dorsal grip, overgrip, undergrip, mixed grip), for release and re-grasp skills, dismounts and overall presentation skills.
