The pommel horse also called side horse, is a metal frame resembling horse back with a wooden or metal body, covered with foam rubber and leather and plastic handles on the top which are called pommels. Centuries ago, pommel horse was used as a horse back imitation used by soldiers to practice mounting and dismounting. A side horse routine typically involves single and double leg work, circles and flairs with and/or without spindles, handstands, side and cross support travels, and should finish with dismount.

Scoring & Ruls

The Gymnasts should keep their feet pointed, legs straight and together during all elements. Exceptions beings scissors, single legged elements, and flairs. Deductions will be given for not passing through handstand in dismount, brushing and hitting the apparatus, not using all three sections of the horse, and pausing or stopping.
